What It Means To Become A Christian
The word Christian has evolved in meaning through the years and for some it may have political and social implications, but that is not what was intended when the disciples of Jesus Christ were first called Christians.
Simply put, a Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus means savior, and Christ means anointed one or messiah. A Christian claims Jesus as the savior from the power and punishment of sin because of His resurrection from the dead, and Christians claim Christ as the ruler of their lives because He is the King of Kings.
To some it might seem that people who follow Jesus Christ must give up a lot, but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ includes peace, joy, and hope. In our world full of challenge, those are invaluable.
